A Change of Plans, a Beautiful Story: Pre-Wedding in Florence and Chianti
Nere and Leo’s engagement session had been more than a year in the making. They were travelling from Miami to Italy and wanted to return home with photographs that celebrated this chapter of their lives, ahead of their wedding in 2027.
The original plan was to meet in Pienza and explore the Val d’Orcia countryside. Instead, an unexpected problem with their vintage rental car brought us to Florence and Chianti—and turned a stressful afternoon into an experience they would remember with joy.
As a pre-wedding photographer in Florence and Tuscany, I know how much anticipation goes into a session like this. Sometimes, helping a couple enjoy their photographs starts well before picking up the camera.
With Florence unfolding behind them, Nere and Leo share a playful pause above the city. A white dress, a summer hat and the Duomo set the scene for their Italian pre-wedding story.
She loved the romantic countryside setting and imagined incorporating a vintage car or a Vespa into her own session with Leo. Her messages were full of excitement, but one detail stayed with me: although the trip was still a year away, she already knew she wanted to reserve the date.
For couples looking for a pre-wedding photographer in Tuscany, these early conversations are part of building the experience. We talk about the places they love, their ideas, and how they want to feel in front of the camera. Nere and Leo wanted a beautiful memory of Italy, with room to enjoy being together.
When the Journey Takes an Unexpected Turn
On the day of the shoot, Nere sent me an upset message. They had rented a vintage Fiat 500, but felt unsafe driving it on the highway and could no longer reach Pienza as planned. She thought they would have to cancel.
They were staying in Florence, so we needed to rethink the route.
We changed the location to Florence and the Chianti countryside. I drove them to a vineyard and brought them back to their hotel afterwards, allowing them to relax and enjoy the session without worrying about the journey.
The setting had changed, but we could still create the photographs they had travelled so far to make.
Pre-Wedding Photography in Florence and the Chianti Countryside
What I love about working as a pre-wedding photographer in Florence is the possibility of bringing the city and the surrounding countryside into the same story.
Florence and Chianti offer different settings, yet they work beautifully together: the character of the city, followed by open countryside and vineyard landscapes. For Nere and Leo, this new route gave their session a connection to both.
As a pre-wedding photographer in Chianti, I want the landscape to become part of a couple’s memories. The vineyard gave us a beautiful place to spend time together, let the tension ease, and bring the attention back to the two of them.

From Worry to Laughter
Nere later wrote that I made them laugh and helped them feel comfortable. That means as much to me as her lovely words about the finished photographs.
My approach as an engagement photographer in Florence is to offer gentle direction while leaving space for a couple’s own way of being together. There is no need to arrive knowing how to pose. We can take our time, move around, talk, and let the session find its rhythm.
For Nere and Leo, that also meant making room for the emotions of an afternoon that had begun very differently. By the end, they had a happy experience to remember alongside their photographs.
