Proposal Photographer at Castello di Vicarello, Surprise Engagement in Tuscany
Travelling from Australia for a holiday in Tuscany, Dekota and Aiden returned home with a new chapter to celebrate. Their surprise proposal at Castello di Vicarello brought together an intimate moment and a beautiful setting: cypress trees, historic stone archways and views across the Tuscan hills.
As their proposal photographer at Castello di Vicarello, I captured the question itself and the celebration that followed, before exploring the grounds together for engagement portraits.

A Surprise Proposal in the Castle Gardens
Framed by tall cypresses and a wrought-iron gate, the garden provided a secluded setting for the proposal. He dropped to one knee, and she brought her hand to her face in surprise. The photographs follow those first reactions through the ring exchange, a kiss and a close embrace.
As a proposal photographer in Tuscany, I look for the gestures that make each story personal. For Dekota and Aiden, it was the expression of surprise as the moment unfolded, followed by the way they held each other afterwards.
Working as a proposal photographer at Castello di Vicarello also means considering how the surroundings enter the frame. The garden’s greenery and stone details gave the photographs a strong sense of place while keeping the couple at the centre of the story.

A Toast to Their Engagement
After the proposal came a celebratory toast and time to enjoy the moment together. Dekota and Aiden raised their glasses, exchanged smiles and looked at the ring before we continued with portraits around the gardens.
My role as their engagement photographer at Castello di Vicarello was to carry that energy into the photographs. Alongside a few composed portraits, we left room for laughter, movement and quiet embraces.
Their light-toned outfits worked beautifully with the setting. Her white dress and his relaxed ivory ensemble stood out against the deep greens of the cypresses, while the warm stone added texture to the photographs. A close-up of their hands brought the story back to its smallest, most meaningful detail: the engagement ring.

Engagement Portraits Around Castello di Vicarello
The grounds offered a varied route for the session. We followed the cypress-lined driveway, paused beside the vintage Italian cars and wandered through stone passages softened by climbing greenery.
As an engagement photographer at Castello di Vicarello, I enjoy using these changes of setting to give a gallery its rhythm. Walking photographs brought movement to the series, while the archways framed quieter portraits of Dekota and Aiden together.
There was no need to rush from one spot to another. Some of the most expressive photographs came between the more composed frames: a glance while walking, a smile over the shoulder and a burst of laughter during an embrace.
For a proposal photographer in Tuscany, those minutes after the question are an important part of the story. They capture the couple settling into the joy of being newly engaged.

A Final View Across the Tuscan Hills
We finished beside the pool, where the landscape opened out across the hills. The wider photographs placed Dekota and Aiden within the scenery of their holiday, creating a gentle closing image after the intimacy of the proposal and portraits.
From the garden where the surprise unfolded to the final panoramic view, the gallery tells the story of an afternoon that changed the meaning of their trip.
