Summer family photos surrounded by the Tuscan countryside

So many people around the world are fascinated by the Tuscan countryside: green rolling hills covered in vineyards and olive groves, embracing picturesque Medieval hamlets.

Sandra and Bastiaan are among those people, and decided to celebrate their vacation in such a longed-for destination with summer family photos taken by a professional – that’s why they contacted me and that’s why I’m here today to tell you their story.

Sandra, Bastiaan, and their daughters Anna and Elise are a cheerful family from the Netherlands, who spent their holiday in Italy last August. They love the countryside of Tuscany, and wished for their summer family photos to be set in that kind of scenery.

When they told me what their desire was, I immediately suggested having a double setting: Peccioli, a little town with a delightful historic heart, and the hills that embrace it. They liked the idea, and that’s exactly what we did!

Theirs are not the typical summer family photos with loads of sunlight, but that doesn’t make them any less charming. The sky was a bit cloudy on the shooting day – although it didn’t rain, luckily – and that made the light soft and caressing… and, as you can see from the gallery, the final result was so delicate that it enhanced the sparkling smiles of the protagonists!

Especially in family vacation pictures where children are involved, it’s important to connect with them at the very beginning of the photoshoot. Creating a bond allows them to feel comfortable and be themselves, and allows the photographer – me, in this case – to capture their true essence.

Breaking the ice and getting to know each other was the main purpose of the first summer family photos we took in Peccioli, and I have to say it worked pretty well. You can see it in the happy faces of Sandra, Bastiaan and their daughters, as well as in their bright eyes.

When we moved the session to the countryside, they felt completely free to express themselves: they played, ran, laughed, hugged and had a lot of fun together. They had the chance to spend some quality time focusing only on the family, while I was taking photos that will allow them to cherish that moment forever. Could there be anything better?
